Cloudstatus
Written by bart on 23 June 2008 – 10:54 pm -Hyperic launched a new “service” this morning on Velocity called cloudstatus. A cool initiative to try to bring some more transparancy into the cloud computing thing. Currently it shows status of the Amazon services. I thought Google App Engine would be there too but that one is missing currently. So maybe it should be called AmazonStatus for the moment. I guess it is a cool thing to make Hyperic more visible on Velocity, they even created a real cool movie for the launch and posted this on their blog.
Its a cool service and very good initiative but honestly I had hoped for some more spectaculair news from Hyperic, e.g. a licensing model based on hourly usage of instances our really cool plugins into Hyperic HQ to manage infrastructures in the cloud from Hyperic HQ. But maybe that is comming too but they didn’t have time to launch this! I hope we will get an oppurtinity later this week to talk to Hyperic for these kind of services that in my opinion would have real business value for companies like us, Hyperic customers.
